Case Studies

Here you can find some examples of our work.

Brighter Together worked with NHS Clinical Commissioners to produce a report showcasing innovative, intelligent and integrated commissioning. Gathering case studies through interviewing nine key leaders in clinical commissioning allowed Brighter Together to write the report. The report showcases the best in clinical commissioning, six years after the establishment of clinically led commissioning in the NHS in England.

Brighter Together is currently working with Cancer52, a coalition of nearly 100 charities representing rare and less common cancers. In 2018 they worked with members to influence the NHS Long Term Plan. Working closely with Cancer52, Brighter Together ran a survey of members, a survey of patients that attracted over 600 respondents, interviewed 14 key stakeholders and facilitated two workshops. Based on this evidence, Brighter Together produced a submission for the NHS Long Term Plan consultation with key calls and a published briefing for stakeholders.

Working with the International Longevity Centre UK (ILC UK), Brighter Together analysed the evidence related to ageism in breast cancer care, including published data from the NHS as well as academic papers and soft literature. Brighter Together  then drafted a report with the ILC UK which set out the current state of play and made recommendations for improvements.

Brighter Together worked with the Stroke Association to review a wide ranging dataset from a survey of over 10,000 stroke survivors and produce four separate reports aimed at generating awareness of the lived experience of people affected by stroke. The reports were written with a general audience in mind using simple but impactful language, and secured some great media coverage for the organisation.

Brighter Together helped the External Affairs team at the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) to design an operating model for their programme communications. Brighter Together interviewed key internal stakeholders to understand current processes and ways of working and then designed and facilitated two internal workshops to evolve and finalise the operating model.

Brighter Together worked with the International Longevity Centre UK (ILC UK) to analyse the findings from the MARQUE project, led by Prof Gill Livingston from UCL. MARQUE (Managing Agitation and Raising Quality of Life in Dementia) is the largest ever study involving people living in care. Brighter Together worked with the ILC UK to summarise the evidence in a report and produce recommendations for public policy.

In late Autumn 2018, Brighter Together designed an online survey for people with rare and less common cancers. Over 600 people responded to three open questions about their experiences of cancer diagnosis, treatment and care. Brighter Together analysed all these responses, interviewed four case studies and produced a powerful report highlighting the challenges patients face. Brighter Together assisted with the launch of the Cancer52 report at an event in Parliament in Summer 2019 which provided an opportunity to raise awareness among politicians and parliamentarians.
